Rema has made history on the Billboard Pop Song Airplay Chart with his song ‘Calm Down’ featuring American singer Selena Gomez

As at today April 10 American music chart platform, Chart data announced that ‘Calm Down’ by Rema and Selena Gomez has spent a record breaking 52 weeks on the Pop Song Airplay Chart and is now the the longest run on the chart in history.

‘Calm Down’ has made history by becoming the first African song to top the Pop Songs Chart, a big statement to its overwhelming embrace in the United States.

And it has also peaked a remarkable number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100, a feat that has set a new African songs record for the 21st century. To spend 52 weeks on the Hot 100 chart is a towering milestone for any African song.

His immense success in the US is further reflected by six nominations at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. Some of the nominations include: Top Afrobeats Artists, Top Radio Song, Top Collaboration, and Top Billboard Global 200 Song.
